The Laker Trap Shooting Club started out its inaugural year in the No. 2 spot in the Outstate Conference of the newly developed Minnesota State High School Clay Target League.
The club finished second, behind Elk River, in the conference.
The league consists of 14 schools divided into two regions: Outstate and Hennepin County Metro.
The Prior Lake High School club competes in the Outstate region against seven other schools from around the state: Brainerd, Worthington, White Bear Lake, St. Francis, South St. Paul and West St. Paul.
The schools compete virtually each week and points are awarded in three categories: team’s overall score, top high squad and top individual score. With the virtual competition, each school shoots at their home ranges. To keep a level playing field, all competitions are scored by trained volunteers and no volunteer can score a squad where their child is competing.
